Similar to the idol of greed, the idol of belongings often stems from a place of needing safety and security. The more things we own, the more things we control, the more power we have to overcome our circumstances. But, Christ calls us to trust in Him alone, in His provision, and wisdom, and truth in our lives. Our strength does not come from the amount of things we have, or the power that our belongings gives to us in this world, it comes in our Savior who has conquered sin, death and the devil in His death and resurrection.
