Passage: Ephesians 4:11-16

For many decades now the Church has bought into the “build it and they will come” mode of operation. And it worked! But, in a 21st Century context, much like the 1st Century context of the New Testament, the Church cannot wait for people to come to us. Nor, are the 1-2 hours a week that most spend in “church activity” the purpose God has called us to in Jesus Christ. As disciples, we are redeemed and set free to live our daily lives as His disciples. The time we spend together, as disciples gathered in worship and God’s Word, is to equip us to live out daily life as His disciples. The focus of the Church cannot be on just the time we spend gathered together, but in how we use that time gathered to encourage and equip one another for the 166-167 hours of the week where we have opportunity to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples and move the mission forward with those who may not be following Jesus.
