Outside Voices

Series: Turning Off the Noise

Brian WeaverNovember 9, 2025

Passage: Mark 4:35-41

Life’s noise often comes at us like a raging storm, but Jesus’ word cuts through it, “Peace! Be still!”. In Mark 4, we see that Christ’s voice stills external chaos so that His frightened disciples find calm. Likewise, the psalmist exhorts us to “be still and know that I am God.” Turning off the clamor of others’ opinions and fears allows us to hear the Lord’s voice above all. Rather than conforming to the frantic demands around us, we listen for God’s steady guidance. In silence we remember that God reigns sovereign: the One whose voice stills the storms is greater than the storm of voices coming at us from the outside world.
