Children

At Peace, we desire that children participating in our ministries will:

Know God created them, loves them and is always with them. (Proclaim the Gospel)
Love & Trust Jesus and His Word. (Make disciples)
Love others as God loves us. (Move the mission forward)

Children's Bible Study | Sundays | 9:45a

Below is an overview of what happens for each age range in Children's Ministry, specific to our Bible Study hour each Sunday.

Nursery: 6 months - 3 years

Peace’s nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings from 8:15a - 12:00p. Our staff and volunteers are background checked and attend regular trainings to keep your children safe! We strive to provide a warm, attentive environment for your little ones. While we love having kids in worship, we understand sometimes kids need room to run, or need a space to be a kid. The Nursery is here for these moments and more.

Early Childhood:
3 years - Kindergarten

Our early childhood Bible study teachers and helpers provide a consistent, nurturing environment to help children build a foundation of faith in Jesus!
Through songs, interactive Bible stories and age appropriate crafts & activities, children are taught foundational stories from the Bible that will help them learn that God made them, God loves them and Jesus is their forever friend.

Elementary: 1st - 5th grade

Our elementary Bible study teachers and helpers provide an engaging, relational environment to help children learn they can trust God and God’s Word. Through songs, storytelling, and age appropriate hands-on activities children will build friendships, practice faith skills such as prayer, and reading God’s Word, and dive deep into the chronology of the stories in the Bible, and how they all point to Jesus.

About Parent Cue

You are a better parent than you might realize. At least we think so. Parents, grandparents, and guardians often don’t give themselves enough credit for the remarkable job they are doing in raising kids to become good humans. Your parenting style might not be for everyone, and that’s okay. At Parent Cue, our goal is simply to cue you with what you need when you need it, so you can be the parent you want to be.

As Christians, we are united by our common belief in the Creator of the cosmos, the image of God in all people, and our faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible is the authoritative source for understanding the person of Jesus, and is instructive for the life and ministry of those who follow Him. We celebrate the family in all of its many forms, and support every caregiver’s role in raising humans to fully embrace the fullness of life they were created and redeemed to experience.

Mental Health

The more we learn about mental health, the more we realize how necessary it is to educate ourselves about it. We’ve collected as many resources as we could for leaders, parents, youth pastors, children’s ministers, kids, and teenagers and compiled it all in one place. We hope these resources can help us better understand WHAT mental health is and WHY it’s so important for us to safeguard our health as well as the health of others. Whether you’re a book reader, a podcast listener, or a video watcher, there’s something here for you!

Children Ministry FAQs

Where is Children's Bible Study?

Children's Bible Study happens upstairs in our Children's Ministry space. Our upstairs is located on the Northeast end of our campus.

Children's Bible Study meets each Sunday, 9:45a - 10:45a.

Does Peace offer Nursery Care?

Yes! Our Nursery is staffed and available for children infant - 3 years each Sunday, 8a -12:15p.

Our Nursery is located on the Southside of our campus, facing the playground out back.

Do children attend worship?

We encourage parents, children and families to worship together. We have a special time in each worship service for children. We call this our "Children's Message." During the "Children's Message," we invite children forward to the front of the Sanctuary for a message that was prepared to help them understand the main point of the sermon and Scripture reading for the day.

As you enter our Sanctuary, make sure you grab a Kids' Worship Bag. Our Worship Bags are filled with activities, coloring pages, and a book to help children focus on the topic of the weekend and to learn more about Jesus and His love for them.

Will my children be safe?

Your child's safety is important to us, and we take it seriously. At Peace Lutheran Church, all volunteers within Children's & Student Ministries are required to submit and pass a background check, and go through Child Safety Training. Volunteers are also given ministry specific training to serving in Children's Ministry throughout the year.

It's our first time attending Children's Bible Study. What can I expect?
Children’s Bible Study is from 9:45-10:45AM up the stairs in the Northeast end of our campus. Follow the big, white signs from the Sanctuary to lead you!
  • Preschool students (ages 3 through Kindergarten) begin with large group opening and Bible study then finish their time in their classrooms.
  • Elementary students (1st through 5th grade) begin with Children’s choir and large group Bible study then finish their time in their classrooms.
When checking in a child for the first time, parents will be asked to fill out a Visitor Information Card. This card will be given to the child’s classroom leader until their information has been uploaded into Peace’s database. A Peace volunteer or staff member will manually fill out a nametag for your child and guardian slip for you. A staff member or volunteer will then walk you and your child to their opening room and will help you locate your child's classroom where you will be able to pick up and sign-out your child by presenting the guardian slip to your child's teacher.
What events and Milestones are available for my child?
There are several events for children and their families to participate in throughout the year!
  • VBS: Vacation Bible School is a week-long experience where we learn about Jesus through music, Bible stories, science, crafts, and so much more! Children who are age 3-entering the 5th grade can register for free as participants. Parents and teenage children can register as a volunteer. Our volunteers have just as much fun as our kids do, making VBS a truly fun, family experience. VBS is held the third week of June each year.
  • 2nd Grade Bible Milestone: in the fall, our 2nd graders and their parents spend an afternoon together learning about how we got the Bible and how to use a Bible on our own. Children learn why it's important to treasure God's Word in their hearts, while parents are equipped to help their child navigate their first Bible. The Milestone culminates in a special celebration during one of our worship services. The 2nd Grade Bible Milestone is held in September each year.
  • Sweetheart Dance: in February, we invite dads (or step-dads, grandpas, uncles, etc.) to bring their daughters out for the Sweetheart Dance. This special night is meant to strengthen the bond between dads and daughters, and to help these young girls feel special, worthy, and loved. Families eat, dance, and laugh together on this special night!
  • Mother-Son Event: the mother-son event is a night for moms and their boys to bond over things they love: activity, competition, building, or the outdoors. It's a day for this special bond between mom and son to grow, and to encourage these young men in learning to care for their moms and other important women in their lives. The Mother-Son event is held in the Spring each year.
  • Egg-Stravaganza: our annual Easter Egg Hunt is held the Saturday before Easter and usually takes place off of Peace's campus at a nearby elementary school, Donna Park. We collect hundreds of donated eggs to scatter across the field at the school and divvy the hunt into specific age groups. There are also opportunities to play games, make a craft, and take your picture with the Easter Bunny.
There are many more events Peace provides to adults, teens, and especially events and serving opportunities for the whole family. Be sure to check out the Events Page for a full list of all the upcoming events!
