Wisdom: Life Lessons from the Past

Rejoice in Your Work
We’ve all been given a purpose and station in this life, yet in Western Christianity many struggle to live it out. As we read these words of Solomon, it’s hard to get excited about the journey ahead since it all returns to “dust” anyway. But, his words in verse 22, “…nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work…” drives us to be content in the station and purpose God has given to us to fulfill within His kingdom. Ultimately, its not for our own glory, but His, that through us His love may be made known.
We live in a fast-moving culture and society where things change so fast that we often lose the wisdom of the past, and rarely have time to learn from those who have gone before us. As we look at the world that lies ahead, and the ministry of the Church, this series will help us reach back into the truth of God’s Word and the wisdom provided, the wisdom of the Elders, to help us wisely carry out our purpose as disciples of Jesus Christ in our daily lives.
