His Power, My Purpose

Luke 24:36-39

The day of His resurrection, Jesus appears to two men walking back from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They were filled with hope, but now, assuming Jesus to be dead, are filled with despair. As the story continues they later realize who was walking with them – Jesus! This fills them with such excitement they couldn’t wait to tell the other disciples. As Luke records, in the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts, the work of spreading the Gospel begins with Jesus commission and promise. The transformation of these disciples marks the beginning of what has never stopped, the growth of our Savior’s Kingdom, His Church.
