We have been given the armor of God because we are going to face challenges, struggles, opposition, as we move the mission forward. There is no strategy to overcome or get around evil. There is only victory – victory in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Living out our purpose in Christ as the Church is not going to be more fruitful because we have the perfect strategy to reach the lost, or increase engagement in serving and small groups. It is going to be more fruitful because our Savior is working through us. It is going to be more fruitful because we rely less on ourselves and more on His incredible power working in us and through us in ways we can’t even begin to fathom. The armor of God has been given to us to utilize because each piece requires our trust to be placed in Christ Jesus, who has already claimed the victory. Our battle is not one of defense, not a strategy of survival, but instead a battle of victory, and freedom, and life.
