Who Is Jesus?

They say you can’t really know someone without walking a mile in their shoes—or in this case, sandals. The question, “Who is Jesus?” doesn’t lead to a check list of character traits or a list of notable achievements. The question, “Who is Jesus?” leads to an invitation, an invitation to a journey. Here at Peace Lutheran Church we believe you can only get to know Jesus by walking with Him awhile, by spending time in His presence, by taking one step at a time on this journey of faith.

Jesus told His disciples: “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” And that choosing took the form of an invitation. Jesus shows up and says, “Come, follow me. Come, walk with me a ways. Come, get to know me better. Come with all your faults and failures, but come, follow me!”

Jesus invites you to get to know Him better by spending some time walking a little closer with Him. Walking a little closer with Jesus is what intentional discipleship is all about. Here at Peace, we invite you to join us in getting to know Jesus better and following Him. Please take the time to walk with Jesus a ways—following will not always be easy or clear-cut, but following Jesus is the adventure of a life-time! Better yet, it’s the adventure of eternity!

Come, join the journey of faith!

Getting to Know Jesus by Following Jesus

To know any one better requires spending time in their presence. Jesus promise to meet us in His Word. We regularly gather around God’s Word in worship and in personal and group Bible study. Join us as we seek to take the next step in our journey of faith.

Weekly Bible Study
Jesus is present in His Word and that Word is shared not only in worship, but in group Bible study as well. Join us for an hour of worship and an hour of group Bible study every week. We offer Bible study for all ages at 9:45 am on Sundays. Or you can join us for any of a number of Bible studies that meet during the week. The day and time aren’t important: focusing on God’s Word is!  [Sunday and Week Day Bible Study]

Renewal
 in Christ
Along with weekly worship and Bible study with other people, we also spend time in God’s presence and in His Word in personal Bible study and prayer. If you are looking for a method that helps define what that time with God might look like on a weekly, daily basis, we offer Renewal in Christ weekends twice a year. These weekend events help to quite the noise and provide a time and place for Jesus, our Good Shepherd, to give us the spiritual rest and renewal we so desperately need.  [Renewal in Christ]

More about Us
Knowing Jesus is about an on-going relationship of following rather than just sterile facts; but we can say some pretty concrete things about who Jesus claims to be and what He claims to do. You can find some of our basic beliefs on our What We Believe page. Better yet, join us for our next
I Believe Bible study—an open conversation is often more helpful than a list.

If you have specific questions about who Jesus is or how we walk together at Peace Lutheran Church, please give us a call or send an email. Better yet, come join us for worship and introduce yourself to a pastor after the service: we would love to get to know you better!

Thank you for taking the time to ask the question, “Who is Jesus?” You are always welcome at Peace.
