Some people follow their hearts. Some people follow the money. So what do you follow?
Someday our hearts will stop beating, and money, well you know the saying, “You can’t take it with you.” So is there something we can follow that answers the biggest questions of life?
Jesus said, “Come, follow me . . .“ We believe He’s the one! We believe there is a God who created everything and who loves His creation. We believe He sent Jesus not simply to answer life’s biggest questions, but to give us back big lives that can only be lived in the presence and power of the almighty God. Our lives find their immediate and ultimate purpose in Jesus. So what now?
Jesus’ invitation to follow Him is a daily invitation. The words we use at Peace for this daily following are “Intentional Discipleship.” Did you know that the word “disciple” is used over 260 times in the New Testament? The word “Christian?”… not so much (only three to be exact)! So what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? That’s the main question we are about at Peace Lutheran Church. We hope you will join us in this journey of faith and hope.
Here at Peace this discipleship journey is about knowing who Jesus is and where He is going, and then following along in His footsteps. This always and only begins with Jesus. We never get ourselves to heaven. Jesus’ death and resurrection has 100% accomplished what we never could – putting us back in a right standing with God so that we can live in His presence (click the seal with the heart and cross in the center to learn more). But now He invites us to follow Him the rest of our lives. The way we seek to live out this reality in the power of God’s Spirit is in 5 core values that permeate everything we attempt at Peace: Intentional Worship, Intentional Interaction with God’s Word, Intentional Relationships, and Intentional Mission supported by Intentional Generosity.
So what are you going to follow? Better yet, who are you going to follow? Follow Jesus and discover a life far bigger than the world could ever offer.
