GOD. Quite simply, this is where all of our worship services begin. We believe that God's active presence is what brings us together, and we believe that He promises to meet us when we gather in His name. So worship at Peace does not focus first or foremost on our actions, or our worship, but on God's actions of being present, forgiving, transforming, restoring, and sending us back into our everyday lives as His people. Of course, all of these actions call for a response from us: His holy presence calls for humility, confession, and worship; His grace and forgiveness call for changed hearts and minds; His transforming calls for changed living; and His restoration and sending calls for intentional discipleship.
We believe that God's life-changing gifts are for everyone - but everyone doesn't speak the same language. That's why we have four distinctly different worship services that focus on the same God coming to us where we are, speaking to us in the different ways we communicate.
On Saturday night at 5:30 pm we gather in worship in a more casual atmosphere receiving the promises of God and responding in worship through more contemporary language and music.
On Sunday at 8:30 am we gather in a more formal atmosphere to meet God, receive His gifts and respond in worship through a more structured liturgical service with traditional organ-led singing.
On Sunday at 11:00 am we gather in a blended atmosphere that takes elements of the other three services and weaves them together in a unified whole, bringing together contemporary and traditional elements, and sometimes even international and African worship elements.
On Sunday at 1:00 pm, our African immigrant community gathers for worship in English, Arabic, and some Sudanese tribal languages. Much of the service is in English with translation into Arabic. This service is open to all people.
During the seasons of Lent and Advent, we also join on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm for worship and the Christian festivals of Christmas and Holy Week/Easter also include special worship opportunities.
No matter where you are from, no matter what your background, you are welcome to worhip with us at Peace Lutheran Church. We hope that one of our intentionally distinct worship experiences speaks to your heart, mind, and life. But no matter what style speaks most clearly to you, you can count on this: we will gather around God's Word to receive what He wants to give us this week, and then respond jofully and freely as He continues to work in and through us. Please join us for worship!

Saturday 5:30pm Contemporary Worship
Saturday worship seeks to reach especially those who relate to a more casual worship experience. This does not mean it is lite on theology or lite on what God says and does. It means that the language we use is more like the way we talk every day. The music we sing sounds like the music a lot of people listen to during the week (we have an amazing band of dedicated volunteers and our Director of Music and Worship Arts). We sing new songs, and we also sing the hymns of the church to new settings, connecting us to the rich history of God's actions in so many different times and places. Much of the New Testament was written in a style of Greek called "Koine Greek." This was not graduate school level writing, but common everyday language - the language of grocery lists, public meetings, and workplace conversations. In this worship service God comes to us in our common, everday voice and music to rescue us from sin, death and the devil, and to transform us for living intentionally through Him for others. Join us to meet God where He promises to be this Saturday night!
Sunday 8:30am Traditional Worship
Sunday Traditional Worship seeks to reach especially those who relate to a more formal structure in worship and more traditional styles of music and singing. This does not mean that we simply go through the motions of worship by following empty rituals. On the contrary, the moves that we make in worship each week serve to strengthen our faith by delivering to us the certain promises of God. We tend to follow a given liturgy, or form of worship, for a period of 6-10 weeks, allowing the congregation to become familiar with it, and for the young children to learn the different responses and musical moves. We don't keep the same liturgy all year long because we don't want our worship to become stale and empty. Most all of our singing is led by a magnificent organ as we sing the hymns of the church, our heritage of faith to which we add our voices. In this worship service God comes to us through the rich history of His actions in many times and places and the heightened language of poets and scholars to rescue us from sin, death and the devil, and to transform us for living intentionally through Him for others. Join us to meet God where He promises to be this Sunday at 8:30am.
Sunday 11am Blended Worship
Sunday Blended Worship seeks to reach especially those who relate to a more eclectic approach to worship. This does not mean that anything goes and there is no structure or no goal. Instead, this worship service seeks to bring God's promises to people through a variety of different means. One week we might sing three contemporary songs with a small band and one song with the organ, and the next we might sing four with the organ and one song with the African choir in Arabic. From week to week, we seek to keep 50-70% of the service similar and change 30-50%. This variety is a constant reminder of how big God is and how big His love is - He loves all kinds of different people who speak and sing in all kinds of different ways. In this worship service God comes to us through the diverse tapestry of His creation and a variety of voices to rescue us from sin, death and the devil, and to transform us for living intentionally through Him for others. Join us to meet God where He promises to be this Sunday at 11a.m.
Sunday 1pm African Worship
Sunday African Immigrant Worship (A.I.M.) seeks to reach especially those in our community who are African immigrants. We welcome anyone to worship with us, even if you are not an African immigrant. However, the service is designed to communicate God's presence and love to people who are just learning English, or who know Arabic or other African languages. Worship is fairly formal, with a structured liturgy so that it is easier to follow in multiple languages. Worship is led in English, while both English and Arabic are commonly used in preaching. Congregational singing is led primarily by drums and voice and includes songs in Arabic, other African languages, and English. In this worship service God comes to us through multiple languages and cultures to rescue us from sin, death and the devil, and to transform us for living intentionally through Him for others. Join us to meet God where He promises to be this Sunday at 6p.m.
