Adult Faith Winter 2010

Sunday morning Bible class is a happening place! This fall, over 300 adults joined us for our walk through the Old Testament story. In January, we expect even more participants as we offer a variety of classes and teaching styles. We invite you to pick a group and join some friends as we seek to grow together in our intentional interaction with God’s Word.

As we grow in our intentional discipleship, we want to spend more time with God in His Word AND as we spend more time with God in His Word, we grow in our intentional discipleship. This January, make Sunday morning Bible study a priority. There’s plenty to choose from and we would love to have you be a part of our vibrant and growing Adult Faith community. There’s always a smile and a cup of coffee waiting for you Sunday mornings at 9:45!

Sunday Mornings, 9:45 am

January 3 – February 14, 2010

How to Share Christ Confidently
led by Pastor Steve Wiechman
In the Fellowship Hall
Come grow in your confidence to share faith in comfortable and effective ways.  You know you should be sharing Christ, and perhaps you even want to be sharing Christ, but what does that look like? How does that work? Where do I begin? This large-group Bible study will help answer some of those questions. Come grow in your confidence to share faith in comfortable and effective ways. Somebody in the world is waiting for you to get bold in your faith…and their eternity depends on it!

Meditating on God's Word
led by Chris Christensen
In Fellowship Hall Classroom 2
A simple but profound routine for personal Bible study and prayer. God invites us to seek Him in His Word. We do that together in Bible study and worship, but how do I do that on an individual, daily basis? The pastor/theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer suggested a simple but profound routine that many here at Peace have found helpful. The Meditating on God’s Word group offers support and guidance as we read and think about and pray through brief passages of Scripture during the week and share insights and struggles on Sunday morning. Meditating on God’s Word is a central part of our Renewal in Christ events here at Peace, so this group is a great way to refresh what you have learned or get a sneak peek at what you might experience at Renewal in Christ.

Parenting on Purpose
led by Jamie Wiechman
In the East Atrium
With schedules chock full of running around and getting stuff done, when do we ever take a step back to look at how our interaction as families shapes the young people God has put in our care? How do we get more intentional about parenting? The purpose of this class is to aid the growth of Christian parents. It will offer plenty of practical ideas for raising children, always keeping in mind the goal of passing the faith on to the next generation.

Colossians
led by Mary Hildebrandt
In Fellowship Hall Classrooms 3&4
In his letter to the church at Colossae, Paul shows how Christ rules over all things, all people, all time, and all creation. And that vision of a glorious and powerful Jesus has implications for how we work, how we do church, how we treat our families, how we live. Join us for a blow by blow, verse by verse un-packing of one of Paul’s most potent letters.

Ephesians Bible Discussion Group
led by Chris Schneider
In Fellowship Hall Classroom 1
Written at about the same time as Colossians, Ephesians picks up some of the same themes. This more informal Bible Discussion group will be going through Paul’s letter at the pace the discussion takes, enjoying conversation and insight from anyone who wishes to join in.
