Local Missions

In Matthew 25, Jesus says: “In as much as you did it for one of the least of these my brothers, you did it for me.” Jesus is clear that sometimes it is more important to show his love than to talk about it. There are a number of directions that God has led the People of Peace, both locally and internationally, in which we primarily focus on showing the love of God in the Name of Jesus.

LOCALLY, we have served "the least" through North East Emergency Distribution (NEED) since its beginning in northeast Tarrant County. We have been involved with Care Corps to serve the elderly, to keep them living independently as long as is reasonably and safely possible. We have served the homeless in Tarrant County by volunteering at the Presbyterian Night Shelter, helping in any way we can. The Battered Women’s Shelter has annually in August held their "before school begins" Day to Shine at Peace. These are single parent Moms and their children, who have experienced much difficulty, whom we have a chance to serve in ways they do not often experience.

In any of these ways, or in others we have not yet discovered, we invite you to be engaged in intentional mission at the local level.  What are you, your family, your friends doing together to grow in your Intentional Mission to those God has placed around us?

Dear Father, take this day’s life into Your own keeping. Control all my thoughts and feelings. Direct all my energies. Instruct my mind. Sustain my will . . .

Make this day a day of obedience, a day of spiritual joy and peace. Make this day’s work a little part of the work of the Kingdom of my Lord Christ, in whose name these my prayers are said. Amen.

POBLO (People of the Book Lutheran Outreach)

Mission of the Month – February
POBLO-TX
Did you know there are presently 1.6 billion Muslims in the world – approximately 1 in 5 people – and by 2025 it is estimated that number will increase to 1 in 3 people? While Christian believers would travel thousands and thousands of miles to share the Gospel with Muslims, today God has brought millions of them to be our neighbors. Their children are now playing and going to schools and colleges with our own children. What better opportunity could we be given to witness to the power of Jesus!!

Founded in 1993, People of the Book Lutheran Outreach (POBLO) is a Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod mission society dedicated to reaching Muslims both domestically and internationally. The name, People of the Book, is what Christians are called in the Qur’an; and the goal is to raise up spiritual leaders among Muslims and establish Christ-worshiping communities within them.

Guided in Texas by Rev. Karim Baidaoui, who was once a Muslim himself, POBLO ministries embrace a relational philosophy of evangelism. They believe that building relationships with Muslims is the most effective means of sharing the Gospel. Trust is built through these relationships and through the ensuing discipleship, new faith is nurtured.  POBLO fulfills its mission by providing a number of services such as English classes, food pantries, clothing banks, driving lessons, computer classes, job training and more. Through these services, opportunities to share the Gospel arise. In other words, Christians earn the right to be heard. There are also ministry programs that target Muslim women and families as well as the growing number of young Muslims who are attending many colleges and major universities.

POBLO-TX needs our prayers, our time and our support. Please contribute generously to this mission and help witness to our growing Muslim population. To learn more about this important ministry, visit their website at
