- Fish
- You know the story of Jonah, don't you? He was the man who
was swallowed by the big Fish. That's a scary thought! But do
you know why it happened?
- Jonah had a bad attitude toward the people who lived in a
city called Nineveh (say "NIN-avuh"). They didn't love God—but
God loved them anyway! God told Jonah to go warn them to be good
so that He wouldn't have to punish them. But Jonah didn't want
to warn them. He got on a boat to sail away and hide from God!
That was a mistake!
- God saw Jonah trying to hide. He sent a storm on the sea
where Jonah was sailing away. Jonah was thrown overboard and
swallowed by the giant fish. God had the fish put Jonah back on
shore . . . instead of eating him up!
- Then Jonah knew he had to obey God. He went straight to
Nineveh to warn the people. And they listened! They started
serving God, so God didn't punish them. That made Jonah mad
because he didn't like his enemies. But God helped Jonah
understand that He loved those people even though they had done
wrong!
