1 Chronicles

  • Editorial on David
  • See that boy? He's selling a newspaper with a photo of King David on the front. In their editorials, newspapers give their opinions about what's going on. In a way, the book of 1 Chronicles gives us God's Editorial on David—His opinion of David's time as Israel's king.
  • You're right—we already read the story of King David back in 1 and 2 Samuel (remember those goofy "sand-mules"?). But this time, we get God's point of view.
  • 1 Chronicles talks about what happened to Israel while David was king. It was written by priests who saw and remembered everything—the good stuff and the bad stuff! And it ends with the death of King David. Then 2 Chronicles picks up the story with King Solomon.
  • The two books called Chronicles are interesting because we can find out how God felt about what happened in Israel. When we read God's editorial, we can learn good lessons, like how to do things that please God! We can also find out the things that we should not do—things that are not wise in God's sight.
