Small Groups
Although some people may think that small group fellowship is a new idea to
the Christian church, the Bible clearly teaches that from the beginning of
the church, Christians have been strengthened through God-centered
fellowship in the homes of believers. Both Paul and Luke not only write
about groups of Christians meeting in homes of believers (Romans 16:5,
Colossians 4:15, I Corinthians 16:19, Acts 5:42), Luke even addresses how
such fellowship can help nurture the spiritual growth of the participants
and the body of Christ as a whole (Acts 2:46-47). At Peace, we believe that
small groups, or
lifegroups, can help people mature in their faith walk through the
strengthening of relationships with others and with Christ.
Through prayer, Bible study, sharing, support, socializing, and yes,
even eating together, lifegroups
provide a wonderful opportunity for Christians to fulfill God’s calling
to “encourage one another and build each other up” (I Thessalonians
5:11), and to “comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
ourselves have received from God” (II Corinthians 1:4b). If you would
like more information and/or are interested in joining a
lifegroup, please contact Steve Wiechman in the office at
stevew@peacechurch.org.
We are on an exciting mission to help everyone at Peace feel more
connected with the love of God and the love that comes through
relationships with good Christian friends.
